72... bad touch

private\\unhackable

Still the same dream. No matter where I go I still see it around me, smothering me. I still wake up with the burning in my arms and that laughter in my ears. Will it ever go away? Does Vincent still dream of it as well? Does Zack?

I feel like I will always have them no matter what I do. That I will always dream the same thing and wake up needing to run as far from everyone as I can get. Will it change if I start seeing someone? Will I hurt them thinking they are a part of my dreams? I don't want to hurt anyone that way.

What I want... I'll never get it.

Anyone still awake and willing to spar? Someone who's not afraid of big swords, thanks.

So where do you wanna fight? I'll meet you!

[identity profile] cloudsinstrife.livejournal.com 2008-11-18 07:28 am (UTC)(link)
Confident, aren't you?

There's a field near the Range that's safe for fighting.

[identity profile] notswimwear.livejournal.com 2008-11-18 07:30 am (UTC)(link)
'Kay, I'll be there in like a minute.

[So it was a little more than a minute; Trunks hadn't taken into account the fact that perhaps he'd need to know where the Range was to find the field beside it, but those were petty details that his opponent wouldn't have to know. After a moment he locates the designating area and drops down onto the grass from the sky, jogging over to the center of the field.]

H'lo?

[identity profile] cloudsinstrife.livejournal.com 2008-11-18 07:46 am (UTC)(link)
[He never actually seen anyone fly before. Cloud was sitting on some grass, cleaning dirt and grass from his sword when the kid came down for a landing. He stopped for a moment, blinking at that particular talent before giving a shake of his head. Putting away the polishing cloth, he stood up, the fully assembled First Tsurugi held easily in one hand. Mako blue eyes peered at the boy from under messy blond spikes, taking in his obvious muscles and absolute zeal for a spar.]

I'm here. What's you name?

[Action]

[identity profile] notswimwear.livejournal.com 2008-11-18 07:50 am (UTC)(link)
Trunks. [Hmmm...the guy actually kind of looked like a Super Saiyan, with his hair all blond and spikey. But his eyes weren't green, they were a strange glowing blue that made Trunks blink if he looked too long at them. That, and his papa would have certainly told Trunks if there were any other Saiyans here that he wasn't aware of, right?

Of course.

The sword in his hand looked cool, though; it looked as if it was a piece of machinery rather than a weapon, little grooves and latches obvious to someone who'd watched their mother build robots from scratch since he was small. He fought the urge to ask the man if he could take it apart and instead squared his shoulders and lifted his chin.]

Who're you?

[Action]

[identity profile] cloudsinstrife.livejournal.com 2008-11-18 08:05 am (UTC)(link)
Cloud Strife.

[He'd grown used to people avoiding his eyes even though he didn't like it that much. He knew that the Mako glow was weird to anyone that never seen it before, and even to some that have.

The outfit Trunks wore looked vaguely Wutain even though he never recalled anyone of that country having such odd color hair. He wondered if he was like the warrior-monks Yuffie sometimes muttered about, followed by a quick affirmation of how much cooler ninjas were. He was interested to see what kind of abilities Trunks had besides flying.]

I take it you're into martial arts, right? Are there any rules you want before we begin?

[Action]

[identity profile] notswimwear.livejournal.com 2008-11-18 08:19 am (UTC)(link)
I don't need any rules.

[Trunks puffed his chest proudly; he was fighting with a grown-up, one that used a sword! And while he couldn't get a good gauge of what the man's ki level was -it was difficult to focus, like attempting to stare at bee as it zoomed about- Trunks was confident he could at least hold his own. After all, he was Vegeta's son.

He assumed an offensive stance, right fist pulled to his side and the left before himself. Maybe he should go easy on the energy blasts, though, just to be fair...]

[Cloud raised an eyebrow. He was used to spars needing a set definition because of the dangers that could happen. Maybe Trunks' world had a different way of sparring and he closed his eyes for a moment, making a mental note to not get carried away by the fight. Even if Trunks was good, he was still a child in many ways and Cloud knew his own strength could seriously injure a person.

He shifted on to the balls of his feet, bringing Tsurugi up to his shoulder and gripping the hilt with both hands, his msucles shifting with the weight.]

[Now, how to attack someone with a weapon? Trunks hadn't ever fought someone with a sword before. Naturally, he'd either want to block the weapon someone or avoid it. Because he wasn't sure of the sharpness -from here it looked rather wicked, though- he'd logically opt for the latter course of action. And while a sword that big would cover a lot of ground when swung, Trunks could use his significantly smaller size to his advantage. Not to mention the sword was massive. There was no way this Cloud guy could swing it around very easily, that just wasn't possible.

Well, nothing was going to happen if he just stood there. Shifting his weight forward slightly, Trunks allowed himself to fall a fraction before lanching himself towards his opponent, keeping close to the ground and watching that sword for movement.]

[Maybe he should have tried fighting with just his hands this time around. Cloud watched Trunks, wondering if the boy had ever been trained to face off against someone with a weapon. He also wondered if Trunks' father was somewhere in the City and if the man would become annoyed if he hurt Trunks accidentally.

At least he had a Restore on him in case that happens.

Trunks was quick, Cloud nodded at the tactic and swung Tsurugi down to block Trunks' charge. He twisted his wrist, bringing the flat of the blade out instead of the sharper cutting edge.]

Do many people use weapons where you come from?

[Action]

[identity profile] notswimwear.livejournal.com 2008-11-19 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
[No, in fact, Trunks had never fought an armed opponent before. That could explain why he pulls an "oh shit" face and, despite his best efforts to stop himself, slams into the flat of First Tsurugi. Because he'd taken the fight so lightly, Trunks hadn't bothered putting more power or effort into his charge, so the abrupt halt courtesy Cloud's sword sends him tumbling head over heels backwards.

Indignantly he sits up, tears pricking the corners of his eyes as he cradles his forehead. It isn't till a few moments later that he registers Cloud's question at all, and he answers with a bit of a testy tone, angry at having been bested so easily and so early on (not that he was anywhere near his limit).]

No, everybody fights the right way, with their fists! What the heck, how come you didn't try and cut me instead?!

Huh. Where I come from, people use what suits them the most. Guns, swords, fists, spears.

[Cloud watched him, bringing First Tsurugi to his shoulder and shaking his right wrist, making sure the materia-laden armband was ready. Trunks looked fine, though bruised from where he rammed into his sword. But in case he might need more care, he kept the Restore ready.]

If I used the blade, I'll being using a Life on you right now.

[He shifted his weight and squatted down, right arm on his knee and his huge sword still resting comfortably on his shoulder.]

Would you like to learn how to fight an armed opponent?

[Action]

[identity profile] notswimwear.livejournal.com 2008-11-19 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh dear. This was a predicament. Trunks was tempted to just lash out and deck the guy; crouching in front of him and offering to teach him like he was some dumb little kid! Trunks might not have been in a lot of life-and-death battles, but his father is the Prince of all Saiyans and he was a warrior, damn it! He didn't need any help, especially not from some sword-swinging cheater.

...then again...that guy had been really fast. He'd managed to bring his sword around and secure it before Trunks could even make it to him, and even after Trunks had rammed into it he could still swing it around without pausing to give his hands a second to recover. He was probably really strong, too. The humans back home weren't nearly as strong as the Saiyans, but Trunks had seen a lot of weird things coming to this city. Apparently many of the people here were from different planets, and some of them were supposedly very strong (although Trunks doubted they could best his father). Maybe this guy was from a planet full of strong people? His eyes did glow kind of funny, he might be an alien.

Well...it wouldn't be a problem, right? So long as Vegeta didn't find out that he was getting lessons. Trunks sniffed and rubbed his nose with his wristband, giving the man a vaguely hesitant nod.]

...well...okay. But you can't tell my dad.

[Action]

[identity profile] cloudsinstrife.livejournal.com 2008-11-19 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
Promise.

[He had been open to attack and he knew it, but Cloud didn't like the idea of fighting a child no matter how good he was. He wasn't sure how Vincent even managed to fight the young Tviet during the Deepground attacks. It just seemed wrong to harm someone so small.]

It'll be a secret.

[identity profile] notswimwear.livejournal.com 2008-11-19 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[Heh, maybe this guy isn't so bad after all. Trunks' mood does a one-eighty, like children's moods often do, and he grins and hops back up to his feet, dusting himself off as he looks no worse for wear. But even though he was accepting this guy's help, he couldn't just do it for free; he had his pride, after all.]

But I gotta pay you for it somehow. [Trunks folded his arms and bowed his head in thought, chewing on his lip. Maybe he could offer to teach the guy how to fight without a weapon? Trunks wasn't so sure he would take him up on the offer though, and he'd never taught someone before so he wasn't even sure how to do it. If only his mother was here, he could ask her for money, but...] Ummm...

[Action]

[identity profile] cloudsinstrife.livejournal.com 2008-11-19 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Well... I've been learning various hand-to-hand techniques, so if you want to trade learning styles, we could do that.

[Cloud didn't know if Trunks could teach him with the differences between the two of them. But the boy had hit Tsurugi hard and yet still was bouncing like he ran into a pillow instead of a blade made specifically for a SOLDIER's enhancements. They could at least show each other various moves, and Cloud could get a few extra pointers from Tifa later.]

A good warrior always needs to learn new things, right?

[Action]

[identity profile] notswimwear.livejournal.com 2008-11-20 09:05 am (UTC)(link)
[New analysis in order; this guy is okay. Vegeta was always talking about adapting to the situation, especially when Trunks complained, so if this man said the same thing it had to be true. Maybe he was better than Trunks had first thought.

Trunks beamed and stuck out his hand; adults always shook hands to seal deals, so that was probably what they should do, right?]

Yeah, okay! I'll trade with you.

[Action]

[identity profile] cloudsinstrife.livejournal.com 2008-11-21 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
[Cloud nodded, taking his hand in his and shaking.]

Deal.

[That was one crisis averted, although not exactly in the way he had hoped. Cloud wasn't sure if this kind of agreement would be useful, but it would at least give him a better understanding of what to expect when it came to calling out for sparring partners in this place.]
